KellyJo’s Story

Tell us about your AutoProtect journey?
After 15 years of the long commute to London, I wanted something closer to home as my son had recently started school. I began as a temp via a local job agency, and was soon offered an admin role within the Creative Services team. After a seven-month period being in an admin role with the Creative Services team, a permanent role became available in the Compliance Department, I applied, got the job…and the rest is history!

What is it like to work at AutoProtect?
Well much to everyone’s disappointment, Compliance is not as boring as everyone thinks! Compliance touches on all departments in one way or another, from Training to GDPR and auditing. On a personal level, I have found that my role has constantly changed since I started, every day is different!

The one thing I have always praised about the company is the people who work here. I feel very lucky to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. The social events are brilliant too! It’s always nice to see people letting loose on the dance floor!

There’s a great team of people at AutoProtect and I felt settled here in a short space of time.

How has the company helped your career development?
The nature of compliance is always changing, and my role has evolved likewise. In my experience, these have been positive changes which have helped develop me as a person. Looking forward, I am looking at a natural progression into a Learning and Development training role.

What is your dream car?
VW Camper Van, they are so cool!

Dan’s Story

Tell us about your AutoProtect journey?
I began with AutoProtect in 2004 when there were just 10 of us in the office. Back then, everybody did a bit of everything! My main role at the start was assisting with the claims administration process. As the company grew, so did my responsibilities; at one point or another, I’ve looked after sale team’s commission payments, handled claims payments, supported sales teams, managed presentations and even acted as Liaison Manager. I have been in my current role as Head of Customer Care for almost two years now.

What is it like to work at AutoProtect?
I wanted to be a part of a growing company. To help win business and watch AutoProtect go from being a small company to a large one, and I’ve found exactly this at AutoProtect

It’s a nice atmosphere and everyone helps everybody else if and when required. The camaraderie between staff should not be overstated. There is a will to get things done in the office, but most importantly, things are done with a smile!

I love the way we adapt, improvise and overcome challenges. I like big projects, where we work together as a team and achieve the goal we are aiming for. My colleagues are very important and I feel an office that works together and gets along will breed better productivity and results.

How has the company helped your career development?
I never dreamed that I would be holding meetings or giving presentations to a room full of people. AutoProtect has helped develop me confidence and grow as a person.

What is your dream car?
Any Lamborghini!

Ben’s Story

Tell us about your AutoProtect journey?
My journey through AutoProtect has been interesting because I have seen a range of role in different departments. First the Claims team, then Central Operations and then onto Finance within the Sales Ledger team where I am now a Trainee Systems Accountant! I have worked at AutoProtect now for five years, including a six month period when I was a temp.

What is it like to work at AutoProtect?
At times, there can be some pressure to get work done, however there is always support when you need it. As a whole, the team at AutoProtect are very supportive of each other.

The part I like most about AutoProtect is that I truly feel that they take my opinion on-board. The company is in a great location and close to where I live.

How has the company helped your career development?
I would say they have helped me to progress as I now have the experience in an area that I enjoy to go with my qualifications.

What is your dream car?
I do not drive, but my dream vehicle would be a Kawasaki Ninja!

Sikiru’s Story

Tell us about your AutoProtect journey?
I started in the company as SMART claims handler, taking calls from the policy holder and authorizing claims in-line with company procedure. I have since progressed to Underwriting where I provide administrative and analytical support to the team and wider company.

I have worked at AutoProtect for over two and a half years and I have recently progressed from a Claims Adviser to the role of Analyst Assistant within the Underwriting team

What is it like to work at AutoProtect?
Being at AutoProtect is very rewarding as we are working directly with customers and handling queries on a daily basis. The company has a family feeling as I have gotten to know most of my colleagues within the business which is one of the benefits of working within a small to medium sized company.

I like the environment within the company. It almost feels like working with family and friends. Everyone at the company are so friendly and have made me feel welcome from my very first day. The company is constantly growing and it is very satisfying to see that we are heading in the right direction and achieving great things every day!

I wanted to start a career in the financial industry as I have a background in account accounting and finance as well as customer service. AutoProtect is a leading company in value-added insurance policies within the motor industry. Working here allows me to develop me skills within a fast-paced environment.

How has the company helped your career development?
AutoProtect has allowed me to know what industry/career I would like to pursue in the near future. There are various opportunities to move and progress within the company. Opportunities are always advertised to give existing team members to chance for career progression.

What is your dream car?
My dream car is a Ford Shelby Mustang GT350.

Sarah’s Story

Tell us about your AutoProtect journey?
My current role is Customer Care Manager, helping ensure every customer is happy with the service they receive from AutoProtect. I will soon be celebrating my 10th year with the company!

I started at AutoProtect back in February 2010 as a Sales Agent within the Call Centre. I enjoyed this role as the Call Centre had only recently been established, so I was part of a new team, full of hard working people. As a Sales Agent, my role was to speak to existing customers whose policies were due to expire and offer them further vehicle cover. After six months of working in this role, I was promoted to Sales Supervisor and looked after a team of 12. My main duties were to help the sales teams by monitoring performances, conducting monthly reviews, providing coaching, allocating commission payments, conducting audits and dealing with high level customer queries. In 2017, the Call Centre relocated to Southend, and as much as I love the beach, the commute would have been a little too far for me; so I stayed at the Harlow office and was moved into my current role where I have been for almost three years.

What is it like to work at AutoProtect?
AutoProtect is a really great place to work, there are a lot of long-serving team members who have heaps of knowledge and are ready to assist when needed.

Everybody is friendly and happy to help each other. I especially like the way we work together as a team to achieve what we set out to do.

When I applied to work at AutoProtect, I was looking for a company which would help me develop and grow, I found exactly that. I’ve received extensive training and have had various role during my time here.

How has the company helped your career development?
The company has pushed me to limits that I didn’t know if could reach and has given me confidence to grow.

What is your dream car?
One which comes with a chauffeur!

Jake’s Story

Tell us about your AutoProtect journey?
I am an Assistant Management Accountant and have been at AutoProtect just over a year..
I have learnt a lot in my time at AutoProtect and have gained a wealth of experience. I started as a Finance Assistant and with great support from my manager, I have taken on more responsibilities. I feel that I am moving in the right direction!

What is it like to work at AutoProtect?
AutoProtect has a great atmosphere, good employee benefits and is just a nice environment overall to be in.

I was attracted to AutoProtect because it is a medium sized business based locally to where I live. This means you are exposed to a lot of the business areas quite quickly and I appreciate the easy commute!

How has the company helped your career development?
The company has been helping me with my studies towards my accountancy exams since I joined and that has been very beneficial! I am currently studying my AAT accountancy exams and I look forward to my future job prospects at AutoProtect when I finish them!

What is your dream car?
A 1950-70s Ford American Pickup.
